What is “Lil’ Dragons”? |
|
Lil’ Dragons (Cadet info to follow soon) |
|
Lil’ Dragons is an internationally proven curriculum that helps to make martial arts fun for younger kids. Our Lil’ Dragons schools teach from 4-7 years old. Our supervision ratio for Lil’ Dragons is usually 1:3 (1 instructor or trained assistant under the supervision of a qualified instructor to up to 3 children) but not more than 1:5 assuring safety and personal development for each child in our care. We DO NOT teach large child classes with few instructors the way many non-BMAF schools do (standard Karate, Tae Kwon-Do etc.)
The skills we teach are classified in 3 different ways.
Martial Arts Skills Life Skills Safety Skills
Martial Arts Skills Martial Arts Skills include the things you would normally expect from a karate, kung-fu or kick-boxing school. There are training drills for basic techniques such as kicking, punching, blocking and so on, plus as the kids progress through the grades, they start sparring and grappling with the introduction of one-step attack and defence and free-fighting. The emphasis of the interactive training is safety and protective equipment is word to help protect the participants.
Life Skills Life skills are based on the things your children need to focus and develop physically, mentally, emotionally and technically. Life skills include training for: Balance Agility Memory Respect Focus Listening Etiquette And more
Safety Skills Safety Skills include aspects of training that help children become more accountable for themselves by equipping them to perform basic tasks to protect themselves from various scenarios and using these templates, prepare for real-life emergencies.
Safety Skills include: Fire Safety Stranger Danger Firework Safety Basic First Aid (Self treatment) Basic First Aid (Treatment of others) Hazard awareness Animal Safety Cycle Safety Water Safety And more
The fun starts as you come through the door. Since most Lil’ Dragons classes start shortly after school finishes, we allow the children 10 minutes of supervised play to help release some energy, to start them warming up their muscles and to let them play with the friends they make at class. This means they are less distracted during the lesson. During this time, instructors take the register and handle enquiries from parents while another instructor supervises the play to ensure safety, fair play and teamwork. There is then a 45 minute lesson where there is a formal class environment and the curriculum is covered. We recommend that you bring your Lil’ Dragon at least twice per week to benefit fully, but when the time comes for Brown and Black exams, twice per week will almost certainly be necessary to ensure they attend the exam with the higher volume of work they need to pass. It’s also good preparation for Cadets which is the next age group up. Tam-Ryu Cadet Bushido is the most intensive and comprehensive martial arts and life-skills curriculum available for children between 8 and 12 years old in Britain!
Contact your school for any special offers and discounts you may be eligible for...remember, the more frequently your Lil’ Dragon trains, the greater the benefit and the more value you receive. See membership prices for training fees. |
